"Failing to plan, is planning to fail..." -- Alan
Lakein
My name is Darryl B. Lara. I have a degree in Business
Administration major in Computer Applications from De La Salle - College of
Saint Benilde. For the last 9 years, I have been working in the Information
Technology field with a specialization in designing and developing business and
financial applications. I do business analysis and consultancy on the side. And
I have been engaged in the stock market since I was a college student.
Two years ago, I gave up my desk job to do consultancy
full-time. I figured that my business degree coupled with the specialization I
have would make me a good I.T. and Business consultant. At the same time, I
started working in the insurance industry as an Insurance Adviser for AXA
Philippines. My parents, particularly my mother has been in the industry for
the longest time.
In the span of two years, I have been able to gain enough
skill and knowledge to become a Financial Adviser. I give lectures and short
learning sessions to Insurance Advisers on how to become financially savvy. I
also underwent trainings to become an Associate Financial Planner under RFP
Philippines. I particularly like to engage with clients in the middle to lower
income brackets who think that financial planning and awareness is only for the
wealthy.
With the experience I have gained, plus all the knowledge I
have accumulated both as a Financial Adviser and a systems engineer for
financial solutions, I have decided that it would be the right time for me to
start this blog.
My goal is to spread awareness among my readers; especially
Filipinos. I want everybody to know what it is about and how the everyday Joe
(or Juan) needs to be prepared for the eventualities in their lives. I hope
readers would also share what they have read here with other, creating a chain
reaction that would empower all of us.
